Fundy Ocean Research Centre for Energy (FORCE)
FORCE is Canada’s lead research facility for tidal stream technology. Its visitor centre has interpretive exhibits and interactive displays and overlooks the technology test site in the Minas Passage. Here an estimated 160 billion tonnes of water flows through the Bay of Fundy each rising and falling tide, almost as much as the flow of all the freshwater rivers in the world combined. Watch the impressive eddies that swirl around Black Rock, an erosional remnant of basalt.
Directions: From Main Street in Parrsboro, continue straight past the clock tower. Cross the bridge past the Ship’s Company Theatre and continue on Whitehall Road past the Ottawa House. The road will change to dirt, after which you will continue for another 6.5 km. Shortly after making a sharp right at the bottom of the long hill, FORCE will be on your left.
