Three Sisters Centre
OUR PROGRESS
The Three Sisters Centre is an important entry point to the Cliffs of Fundy UNESCO Global Geopark. It gives visitors easy access to one of the most unique coastal landscapes in the world. Each year, both visitors and local community members come to the Eatonville site to see the dramatic cliffs and rugged shoreline of Cape Chignecto Provincial Park.
Bringing the World to the Cliffs of Fundy
Join us in fixing the Three Sisters Interpretive Centre. We are working to reopen this site by 2026 so everyone can learn about and enjoy the history and beauty of Mi’kma’ki. We invite you to help us care for and protect this special place.
The Three Sisters Centre: A Gateway Reborn
The Three Sisters Interpretive Centre is starting an exciting new chapter. It first opened in July 2009 to show off the area's amazing coast. While the hiking trails nearby stayed open, the Centre had to close in 2013 because of a water leak.
Now that we have become a UNESCO Global Geopark, we are bringing this building back to life.
Our Journey to 2026
A Solid Foundation: Even though it was closed for years, experts found the building is still in great shape.
A Sustainable Future: The Centre is a unique "off-grid" and sustainable building, using solar power to help protect the environment it overlooks.
Step-by-Step Progress: In 2022, we signed a lease and finished "Phase 1" by stopping the leak and drying out the building.
The Final Goal: We are now in "Phase 2." We are fixing the inside and the outside, including the ramp and railings, so we can welcome you back in 2026.
We are building community excitement by planning several great services for our visitors:
What to Expect at the Centre
-
Get tips on the best places to explore in the Geopark.
-
Learn about the rocks, fossils, and natural history of our coast.
-
We plan to display and sell local products, souvenirs, and light snacks.
-
The site already features accessible washrooms and trails for everyone to enjoy.
Project Impact
It will cost about $150,000 to fix the building. This is a smart way to create a world-class place for tourists and locals alike. Our goal is to share this incredible land with our neighbors, all Nova Scotians, and the world.
Current Site Status: The Eatonville Day-use trails and accessible washrooms remain open for public use while the Centre revitalization is in progress.
